Alright here it is ladies and gentlemen. The statistics I’m sure you’ve all been clamoring over. Just how many steps did we get during our time in Japan? A ton. But we had to in order to burn off all those trips to 7-11!

Let’s see how the results stacked up!

What a close battle it was in Japan. Meg and Chris each walked over 138 miles and over 313,000 steps. An average of nearly 21,000 miles or 9.2 miles per day. Chris barely edged out Meg by 390 steps. We reached out to her for a comment:

“Chris earned his extra steps by making the poor decision to walk out on a slippery tree trunk in Nikko. His slip, fall, and time spent wading through the water to climb back up to the trail equaled the extra 390 steps. I think not having to walk miles in wet shoes and socks makes me the real winner here.”

Wow. Bold words from a bold woman. Chris’ camp totally rebukes these claims as “fake news” and sees his win being about hard work and sheer determination. More from Chris:

“Yeah, I mean Meg’s claims that my victory was due to me falling in a river is 100% WRONG. That’s just me giving it 110% all day, everyday. I saw Japan as an opportunity to take a STEP in the right direction after a summer of poor diet choices and late nights with Bud Lights and my roommate, Cam. I see my win here as putting in that extra effort. Maybe running a couple of hundred steps more down a flight a stairs because I felt like it. Alright, yeah no that never happened…I probably earned those steps by cruising the beer section of the 7-11, but I’ll take the win here. We’re on to Hong Kong. It’s hoody season but I’m thinking bout that beach bod. Now hand me another beer.”

The look of a champion

More to come from this fierce competition. Will it be Meg who ultimately reigns supreme? Maybe looking to make up for that well-documented deer attack. Or will it be Chris? On the hunt for more tasty Asian beer or perhaps his forgetfulness. Stay tuned.
